Tua, Dolphins beat Lamar Jackson, Ravens

Lamar Jackson won the Heisman Trophy in 2016. Tuata Gobairoa finished second in his 2018 Heisman polls and won the U.S. Championship the year before.

Why bring up these college memories now? Because the Miami clash in Baltimore on Sunday looked like he was one of a college pinball game, not an NFL matchup. The first team to reach 40 wins. Defense is frowned upon.

Perhaps it was the visiting Dolphins who stole the decision in Week 2, scoring four touchdowns in the final quarter to record an instant classic victory of 42-38 and overcome a 21-point deficit. Tagovailoa threw for all six touchdowns in Miami and completed a 469-yard passing jamboree. Miami was effective in moving the ball early on, but had to ditch that part of the playbook when the game got out of hand. Team his Tua moved by plane.

Tagovailoa certainly knows where his bread is buttered. He made his 32 of his 50 pass attempts his two dynamics with his receivers, Tyreek Hill (11-190-2, 13 targets) and Jaylen Waddle (11-171-2, 19 targets). ). I think it’s also worth noting that end Mike Gesitzki (4-41-1) has resurfaced after a lost summer and a quiet opener, but the Dolphins are hoping that Tagovailoa, Hill and Waddle will play their part. I will go as far as I can take the Huge market share, that’s a glorious thing in fantasy football.

Hill and Waddle didn’t come cheap in the draft season, but they can still be a bargain. Hill is usually a second-round pick, but if he starts over, he’ll land in the first round. Waddle is usually slotted in Round 3, but when we start drafting again tomorrow, we’ll have more rounds.

Jackson’s game is a mixture of throwing and running, and he did well at both on Sunday. He certainly wasn’t the reason Baltimore lost. Jackson completed 21 of 29 passes for 318 yards and 3 touchdowns and added a 79-yard touchdown run. The Ravens’ total offensive yards were his 473, of which his 437 were routed through his quarterback for the franchise. And like Tagovailoa, Jackson knew where to turn the ball — Rashod Bateman (4-108-1) and Mark Andrews (9-104-1) were nearly at the target with him in thirds. Absorbed 2 and was open all afternoon.

Neither defense was in all its glory here. The Miami defense recorded no sacks or takeaways. Baltimore he picked two passes and collected one sack, but winning on 27 first downs and his day allowing him 547 yards of offense is little consolation. .

Squint a little and you’ll find several Fantasy Falls in the game. Chase Edmonds did well with his six touches (5-33-0, 1-8-0), but Raheem his Mostert put the ball to him 14 times (79 total yards). For interest, he’s available at his 57% in the Yahoo League, but it can be a nasty committee. Baltimore gave Kenya’s Drake (6-8-0) and Mike Davis (5-4-0) some early work, but predictably they went nowhere. With JK Dobbins ready, the Ravens may not need Drake or Davis going forward.

Miami will return next week for one of the slate’s signature games, a showdown with Buffalo. Baltimore will renew its longtime rivalry with the Patriots with an efficient victory in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

The Detroit Lions’ Fantasy Carnival is Amazing

For most of the early window, I envisioned the Detroit Lions leading the line. Baltimore and Miami have had to swap the lead, but that doesn’t make the Lions less disgruntled. Detroit is exactly what we want in fantasy, an offense that scores and a defense that doesn’t stop.

This is a full-blown fantasy carnival.

Detroit competed for a three-touchdown lead in the first half before enduring a ferocious Washington comeback. But in the end, the fantasy manager wins. Jared Goff (4 touchdown passes) was enough. Carson Wentz After a shaky start, it heated up in the second half (three touchdown passes).

I’m almost ready to draft a USC receiver for my fantasy roster of invisibles. Amon La St. Brown It remains a slot machine, throwing 9-116-2 to Washington’s defense. St. Brown had a route he could run all over the tree, win around goal and even had his two long runs covering 58 yards and he 10 yards with creative touches. If we regroup tomorrow, Sun God will be a 2nd or 3rd pick. You landed him a lot cheaper on draft day.

Another thing I can say about Detroit is that this team was ATM at the betting window. Despite his record of 4-15 in his last 19 games, the Lions are 13-6 in that period. Straight cash, buddy.

The great team wins, the legendary team covers.

Wentz is sometimes not an easy watch, but he uses some fun receivers. Curtis Samuel The comeback is real and spectacular (8 touches, 99 total yards, a touchdown). Jahan Dotson While scoring two consecutive weeks, Terry McLoughlin A low-key but consistent 4-75-0 in eight looks.even tight ends Logan Thomas (3-37-1) Found the end zone. If he can prove he’s healthy, he has a chance to push back into the top 12 at that position.

Antonio Gibson I needed a touchdown deodorant to offset my sluggish day — 14-28 on the ground, 2-13 in the air. At least he hit a touchdown. J.D. McKissick He did his usual thing, achieving moderate total yardage (54 yards) on seven catches.

Detroit will visit Minnesota next week and Washington will play Philadelphia. Grab a comfortable seat and grab some popcorn. The offense has the upper hand again.

It’s a shame Davis can’t be traded to one of the clubs in need of a receiver across the league — his old Tennessee team could use him, and so could the Colts.
